Management & Staff

The day to day operation of the Home is the responsibility of the Care Manager. Burnfield is managed by Ms Sandra Falconer, a qualified RGN. Sandra has been a valued member of Newark Care staff for many years and has been manager at Burnfield since 2008 and knows Newark Care and it’s homes inside out.
Sandra is supported by our deputy manager Kirsty Henderson, who has been at Burnfield since 2013, as well as a team of Registered Nurses and Senior Support Workers / Support Workers (full-time/part-time). A Registered Nurse is always on duty, 24 hours a day. Care staff are on duty throughout the night, supervised by a member of the nursing team.
The home is also complimented by a qualified Catering Team which not only cooks and serves meals as per resident’s wishes, but also has a clear understanding of every resident’s dietary requirements. The home also has a dedicated housekeeping team and a full-time maintenance manager to ensure that the facilities of the home are kept to a high standard of cleanliness and are well maintained.
All staff receive training in Newark Care’s philosophy and values. Our arrangements for staff recruitment, training and supervision accord with the latest Government guidance and reflect best practices.
All the Shift Managers and Assistant Shift Managers hold either RGN / RMN qualifications. Over 75% of our care staff hold a formal qualification in Health & Social Care, considerably more than stipulated by the local authority.
All qualified nurses must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in order to practice – this is a mandatory requirement. All Support Workers are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and hold the relevant SVQ qualifications as required by the Scottish Government.
